I am very impressed with Scan Bench. It is a real time saver.

Webiplex DocuPeak - Technical Overview

Webiplex DocuPeak makes it easy to rapidly assemble the necessary meta data definitions, views and system structure. Using the DocuPeak administration interface, the DocuPeak Workflow Designer, pre-built tools for clients and system packaging the IT professional is empowered to deliver ROI without resorting to writing code.

Assemble and Configure
DocuPeak provides an easy-to-use administration interface that can be dropped into your existing portal. Through this centralized interface, you can:
  • Create the document meta data definitions, root folder, and repository structure.
  • Configure user interface elements such as command buttons and document views for the user interface.
  • Administer what users can or cannot do in each document view.
  • Set up automated capture (e.g. e-mail), auditing, and other capture methodologies.
  • Configure content intelligence agents and specialized document display overlays.
  • Configure document to document relationships and define external “reference folders”.
  • Administer workflows and business process components.

Visual Process Design with DocuPeak Workflow Designer
In conjunction with assembling and configuring the basics of the DocuPeak application, the DocuPeak Workflow Designer (WD) is used to design and implement the business process. The WD uses the Microsoft.NET Workflow Foundation standard look and feel and nearly all of the built-in workflow actions.

By using these standards, DocuPeak allows the IT professional to leverage off-the-shelf literature and tools relating to the Microsoft Workflow Foundation. In addition, DocuPeak can use any of the 3rd party or line-of-business tools in the Microsoft Workflow Foundation ecosystem.

Application Packaging
Applications built in DocuPeak are optionally “packagable” into a transportable, reusable XML definition. This means the configuration of all of the above, plus all the workflows and rule sets can be exported (and later imported) as a single package.

The XML system package for a DocuPeak application can be used for backup purposes, system analysis or integration, or even in development vs. production deployment scenarios. Parts of DocuPeak system packages can be used individually for modular application feature sets.

Smart Client Tools
While DocuPeak provides an exceptional server platform, it also provides client-side, installable tools. In this respect, DocuPeak is far more than a Web-only system, and the capabilities to handle the real world outside of a Web browser are built-in.

DocuPeak provides, for example, the innovative DocuPeak Scan Bench which lets users scan, index and submit documents to a DocuPeak repository. Best of all, they don’t have to wait for anything to upload. Remote, production level scanning is now possible with DocuPeak.

SOA – DocuPeak Web service
The DocuPeak Web service isn’t just a Web service API – it is the DocuPeak application layer. This means that the user interface, and all client-side tools of DocuPeak use this interface to do their work, and if there is a need for the IT professional to write a script or external code, they will have access to all possible operations.

Other process or document management solutions often provide either an API or a somewhat configurable application with little or no API. DocuPeak is the first to provide the best of both worlds: a building-block approach to application development, and a full-featured and complete SOAP-compliant API.
